Chuck Mains is the Government Affairs Director for SKLaw and one of the most recognizable lobbyists at the Texas Capitol. He maintains strong relationships with key elected officials, legislative staff, and lobbyists, promoting client initiatives with strategic precision.
During session, Mr. Mains advances bills, educates lawmakers, coordinates testimony, and monitors legislation while keeping clients informed. Between sessions, he develops strategies aligned with interim hearings, agency meetings, and political engagement.
Prior to joining SKLaw, he spent 18 years in the Texas Senate and House. As Director of the Senate Business & Commerce Committee under Sen. Kevin Eltife, he oversaw 400+ bills, influencing legislation in telecom, water, insurance, and craft beer reform. He also served Sen. Mario Gallegos, Rep. Manny Najera, and Rep. Tracy King in key roles.
Mr. Mains earned a B.A. from Texas State University and is active in civic and nonprofit work in Austin. He has served on multiple boards and was voted “Best Committee Director” by Capitol colleagues.
