Sandy SanfordSandy Sanford has literally pioneered the practice and role of the lawyer-lobbyist in Texas state government. His work has shaped the statutory framework affecting virtually every area of Texas business, government, and political activity. He has been recognized as one of 100 most powerful lawyers in America and is consistently documented as one of the best lobbyists in Texas. His hands-on style and team approach to lobbying have now been emulated by every major law firm in Austin. He is a sought after speaker and commentator on the topics of politics and government.
 
Mr. Sanford has also developed a significant urban development and public law practice, encompassing representation involving a multitude of different types of state and local government entities.  In this respect, he has counseled state agencies, river authorities, counties, municipalities, special taxing districts, and water districts.        

Prior to forming SKLaw with John Kuhl, Mr. Sanford was a partner at the law firm of Vinson & Elkins in the Public Law Section. Prior to that, he was an attorney with the law firm of Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Hill & LaBoon.

Mr. Sanford was born in Lubbock, Texas. He received a B.A. and LL.B. from the University of Texas. His many accolades include: One Hundred Most Powerful Lawyers in America, National Law Journal (1988 &1985);  Who's Who in the South and Southwest, 19th Edition (1985); and Best State Lobbyist, Texas Monthly (1976). He serves as a guest faculty member at the Texas A & M University Law Center (South Texas College of Law), where he lectures in legislation. While attending the University of Texas, he served as president of the UT Student’s Association. His honorary associations and fraternities and include Phi Delta Phi, Texas Cowboys, and Delta Tau Delta. Mr. Sanford has served on the Board of Directors for the Tejas Breakfast Club and the St. Charles Bay Hunt Club.

He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association.
