Brittney BoothBrittney Booth is a seasoned government and communications professional with a successful work experience in Texas legislative affairs, state policy, political campaigns, social media, public relations, newspaper reporting and television predominately in Hispanic communities.

Brittney joined SKLaw in 2010 as the firm’s government affairs specialist in Austin. She serve as the on-the-ground contact for the firm’s clients with state legislators and their staff and has cultivated strong relationships in all levels of government. Working with the firm’s attorneys she has helped produce successful legislative results for SKLaw’s clients. In 2015, the Texas political news site Capitol Inside names her a “Rising Star” in its Texas Power Lobby Rankings.

Prior to joining SKLaw, Brittney worked for State Representative Veronica Gonzales, handling the representatives’ communications and media relations for the legislative office and campaign, and legislative duties during the 81st Legislative Session.

Brittney spent several years working in the news media in south Texas and in Florida covering City Hall, state and federal courts, immigration and investigative projects focusing on the Texas-Mexico border, Mexico, and immigrant communities. While reporting for the McAllen Monitor and the Brownsville Herald, she won two Texas Associated Press Managing Editors awards. As the Hispanic Affairs Reporter for the Daytona Beach News-Journal, she was regularly recognized by her editors and others for her work. Following her career in newspapers, Brittney was the on-air talent for the Edinburg Cable Network, where she wrote and produced programs for the municipally-owned cable channel. She also wrote news releases and coordinated public relations for the City of Edinburg.

Brittney is a member of the 2014 Leadership Austin Emerge Class, a 2015 graduate of the Austin City Works course, and a member of the Seton Forum. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism. Fluent in Spanish, Brittney completed a study abroad program in La Plata, Argentina.
